Background
The ISEH’s mission is to be the leading institute of sport, exercise and health in the world, providing excellence in elite sports performance, sports injury prevention and management.
The ISEH is a partnership between the following organisations:
- British Olympic Association (BOA),
- UK Sports Institute (UKSI),
- HCA International,
- University College London (UCL),
- University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust.
The ISEH is one of 3 National Centres for Sport & Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) in England, a major legacy project of the 2012 London Olympic Games. A £10 million investment by the Department of Health has resulted in a dedicated state-of-the-art facility in the centre of London. The ISEH opened in June 2013 and aims to deliver world-class research, teaching, training and clinical expertise in sport and exercise medicine.
The ISEH provides excellence in elite sports performance and sports injury prevention and management whilst bridging the gap between elite sport, amateur sports and exercise prescription, for the improvement of the healthcare of the population.
Onsite imaging facilities include a 3T MRI scanner, X-ray and ultrasound machines.
